Bitcoin Surpasses Taylor Swift and Beyoncé in Google Searches Amid Record-Breaking Rally : fdoiiufd oifdp fdooifdn ufddawb

Bitcoin emerged as the unexpected star of the week, overshadowing pop icons Taylor Swift and Beyoncé in Google search popularity.

The record-breaking rally of Bitcoin has propelled searches for the leading cryptocurrency to their highest level in over a year, surpassing the combined search interest in the two music artists over the past week, as per Google Trends data.

Bitcoin has been consistently hitting new all-time highs in recent days, attracting a surge of interest from investors. The approval of spot-Bitcoin ETFs in January, coupled with anticipation surrounding the upcoming halving event scheduled for late April—expected to halve the supply of newly mined Bitcoin—has fueled a wave of interest from US investors. However, it’s important to note that search interest does not always translate to purchase intent. The last time Bitcoin witnessed such high levels of search interest was in June 2022 when the token experienced a nearly 40% drop in a single week.

During the Super Bowl weekend in early February, searches for Swift were 14 times higher than those for Bitcoin. However, a spike in search interest for Bitcoin in March swiftly reversed this trend, with Bitcoin averaging a search rating of 53 in the last week, compared to Swift and Beyoncé, who had average search ratings of 38 and nine, respectively. Google Trends data employs an index from zero to 100 to indicate relative search popularity.

Despite Bitcoin setting new all-time highs for five of the last seven days, search interest has yet to reach the peaks observed back in 2021.

Nevertheless, Bitcoin exchange-traded funds have witnessed nearly $12 billion in net inflows since their launch. Bitcoin experienced a 2.7% decline after reaching an all-time high of $73,797 on Thursday.
